Bicine is a very widely used buffer for enzyme reaction buffer solutions and electrophoresis buffer solutions, with a working concentration range of 3-100mM. Bicine is recommended as a biological buffer for low-temperature biochemical work. It is used in the preparation of stable substrate solutions for the determination of serum avian adenine deaminase.
Nowadays, the protein PVD transfer membrane no longer uses Tris-gly, SDS, 20% methanol buffer solutions, because glycine is present in the buffer solution, it is difficult to distinguish whether glycine comes from the buffer or is intrinsically present in the protein during sequencing. The current transfer membrane buffer solution used for sequencing is 10mM/1CAPS10% methanol. For capillary gel electrophoresis buffer solutions, the methanol concentration range is 0-20%. Generally, high methanol concentration buffers are better for the transfer of low molecular weight proteins, while low or no methanol concentration buffers are more conducive to the transfer of high molecular weight proteins.
